Privacy Policy

AstroMaster ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Bhuwan Shrestha (Kathmandu, Nepal). This policy describes what information we collect when you use the AstroMaster mobile app (the "App"), how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using the App, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please don't use the App.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you provide directly
When you create an account and use the App, you provide:
- Account identifiers — email address, display name (from Firebase Authentication or Google sign-in)
- Profile information — full name, date of birth, time of birth, gender, birth location (place name, latitude, longitude, timezone), current location (optional)
- Saved charts — birth data of other people you add to compute charts (e.g. partners, family)
- Preferences — ayanamsa, house system, language, kundli style, notification preferences
1.2 Information generated by your use
- FCM device tokens for push notifications (daily panchang, transit alerts)
- Device-stored preferences — chart style, AI-polish toggle (stored locally on your device)
1.3 Information collected automatically
- Firebase Analytics events — screen views, sign-in events, feature usage (anonymized, aggregated). You may opt out via OS settings.
- Crash reports — anonymous diagnostic data via Firebase Crashlytics if enabled
1.4 Birth chart computations
All birth-chart computations (kundli, transits, divisional charts, forecasts) are performed on our servers using the data you provide. Computational results are not stored unless you explicitly save a chart.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide core functionality — compute astrological charts, interpretations, and forecasts
- Personalize your experience — tailor home dashboard, panchang for your location, daily personal numbers
- Send notifications — deliver daily panchang push notifications if you opt in
- Improve the App — aggregate, anonymized analytics for feature development
- Maintain security — detect and prevent unauthorized access or fraudulent use
- Communicate with you — respond to support requests, send service-critical updates
We do not use your information to:
- Sell or share personally identifiable information with advertisers
- Build advertising profiles or run ad networks
- Make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effect
3. AI-enhanced readings (optional)
If you enable "AI-enhanced readings" in Settings, computed interpretations are sent to our LLM provider (OpenAI by default) for rewriting into more conversational prose.
The computed rule-based interpretation text (planet placements, sign meanings, etc.)
Your name, email, account identifier, device identifier, or raw birth data (date, time, place). No personally identifying information ever leaves our servers as part of AI processing.
The LLM provider may temporarily process and log the text for abuse prevention as described in their privacy policy. We cache polished outputs locally on our servers (by content hash) so the same combinations are not re-sent.
You can disable AI-enhanced readings at any time in Settings → Readings.

We sign data-processing agreements with these processors where applicable. Each provider has its own privacy policy linked from their website.
5. How we store and protect your data
- Storage: User data is stored in MongoDB Atlas, hosted in Google Cloud (US region).
- Encryption at rest: All database storage is encrypted at rest by the provider.
- Encryption in transit: All app-to-server traffic uses HTTPS (TLS 1.2+).
- Authentication: Every protected API endpoint requires a valid Firebase Authentication ID token.
- Access: Only the developer (Bhuwan Shrestha) has direct database access. No third party has access to your personal information.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your data is permanently removed within 30 days.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights under data-protection laws (including GDPR for EEA users and CCPA for California users):
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction — update inaccurate information directly in the App (Profile → Edit), or by emailing us
- Deletion — permanently delete your account and all associated data (Settings → Delete account, or request via the web)
- Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
- Objection — object to certain uses such as analytics (opt out via OS settings)
- Withdraw consent — disable notifications, location use, or AI-enhanced readings at any time in Settings

EU and UK residents have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.
7. Account deletion
You can permanently delete your account at any time.
In-app: Open the App → Settings → Account → Delete account → confirm by typing DELETE
By web: Submit a deletion request
When you delete your account:
- Your profile, preferences, FCM tokens, and saved charts are immediately removed from our database
- Your sign-in account is deleted from Firebase Authentication, revoking all sessions
- Cached interpretation outputs (anonymized text without your name) may persist in our LLM-output cache for up to 30 days
- Anonymous analytics events already collected may persist in aggregated form
There is no recovery mechanism — please ensure you have what you need before deleting.
8. Children
AstroMaster is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information.

9. International data transfers
Your information is processed in the United States (Google Cloud, MongoDB Atlas) and may be processed in any country where our service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries that may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
Where required, we rely on standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms for transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to the United States.
10. Astrology disclaimer
AstroMaster provides astrological interpretations based on classical Vedic and Western astrology principles. These interpretations describe traditional astrological tendencies and themes — they are not medical, psychological, financial, legal, or other professional advice.
Do not make significant life, health, financial, or legal decisions based solely on astrological readings provided in this App.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy
- Notify users via an in-app message or email for significant changes
Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
